The Price Is Right Live! is the staged version of the televised game show The Price Is Right. Instead of the show being held in a soundstage and broadcasted on television, it’s held in a local venue and is performed live.
The live version, like the televised version, selects contestants from the audience. These contestants play a plethora of games that generally involves them guessing the prices of select merchandize.
Famous games from the television show—like Plinko, Cliff Hangers, and Punch-A-Bunch—are played as well as “The Big Wheel” and “The Showcase Showdown.”
If you’re new to the show or a hardcore fan you must get Price Is Right Live tickets. The show is a fun, energetic, and zany way to spend an evening.
Still, there are a few things you need to know about the live version of TPIR…
>>No Drew Carey
The host, announcer, and models of the live version are not the same as those in the televised version. That doesn’t mean they’re not entertaining, but if you buy tickets expecting to see Drew Carey you’ll be disappointed.
The live stage version dishes out a bunch of prizes but they are obviously far below the value of the swag awarded on the television show. This has no effect on the amount of fun to be had but if you’re expecting to see someone win tens of thousands of dollars and a new Corvette you’ll be disappointed.
The live version has the same spirit of its boob tube counterpart but it’s not exactly the same. Don’t expect the live show to follow the same format as the television show. One main difference is the live show calls up new audience members for every game and there’s only one Big Wheel spin and one Showcase Showdown.
Don’t worry, you will get to hear the iconic “Come on down!”
To become a contestant, it’s recommended that you arrive three hours before the show to register. Thanks to laws concerning this sort of stuff, you don’t need a Price Is Right ticket to register and be called on stage (that’s right, if you’re standing outside the venue they’ll come and get you).
You need to be 18 years or older to participate but the production is family friendly and anyone, regardless of age, can enjoy the show as part of the audience.
It’s recommended that you visit the show’s website and familiarize yourself with all the rules before attending.
Of course, the best part about The Price Is Right Live! is you don’t have to be home sick to watch it.
The Price Is Right airs on CBS and debuted in September of 1972. It’s widely regarded as the greatest game show of all-time.
