About The Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves drafted high schooler Kevin Garnett with the fifth overall pick in the 1995 draft. With Garnett leading the team, the T-Wolves made the playoffs eight consecutive seasons. However, the first seven of those playoff appearances resulted in first round defeats. Garnett was able to lead the team to the conference finals in 2004 but was unable to get the Lobos past the Los Angeles Lakers.

Garnett was named NBA MVP for the 2003-2004 season. Three seasons later the team traded Garnett to the Boston Celtics for five players, two draft picks, and cash making it the largest trade ever for a single player in the history of the NBA. Sadly for fans with Minnesota Timberwolves tickets, the franchise has yet to reach the playoffs (as of 2010) since losing in the conference finals.

The Timberwolves entered the NBA in 1989 as an expansion team. It was the first time the Twin Cities had a NBA franchise since the Minneapolis Lakers left for L.A. in 1960. The franchise held a name-that-team contest from which "Timberwolves' was selected. The state of Minnesota is home to the largest population of timberwolves in the continental United States.

A Timberwolves ticket will get you into the Target Center located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The team moved into that venue in 1990. Prior to that, the team played in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Due to the stadium's size, the Timberwolves drew a million fans in their first year. They also hosted the 3rd-largest crowd (49,551) in NBA history during their final home game of their inaugural season. Minnesota is aligned in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference.
