Blue Collar Comedy Tour

Bill Engvall is a member of the insanely popular Blue Collar Comedy Tour.  His fellow blue collar comedians are Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy.

In the first decade of the 21st century, the foursome toured for half a dozen years and performed for hundreds of thousands of comedy fans.  The franchise also produced three movies, a television show, and a radio program.

The Bill Engvall Show

Like many successful comedians, Engvall had his own sitcom.  The Bill Engvall Show ran on TBS from 2007 through 2009.  Also starring in the show was Nancy Travis, Tim Meadows, and Jennifer Lawrence—yes, that Jennifer Lawrence.

Engvall has also made guest appearances on Leverage, Hawthorne, and Celebrity Family Feud.  In 2011, Engvall was hired as host of the game show Lingo.  He was inspired to take the job by his friend Jeff Foxworthy, who hosted Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

In 2013, Engvall finished fourth in the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars.  His partner was Emma Slater.

Bill Engvall’s Big Break

Engvall’s big break came in 1992 when he won a major comedy award.  The following year he guest starred on The Golden Palace, a spin-off of The Golden Girls. 

The comedian then landed a starring role in the Delta Burke vehicle, Delta.  Unfortunately, the sitcom aired for just one season on ABC.

In 1996, Engvall played the “best friend” on the NBC version of The Jeff Foxworthy show.  Incidentally, Engvall and Foxworthy are best friends in real life.

Bill Engvall’s Comedy Album

Engvall has released several successful comedy albums.  His first, Here’s Your Sign, dropped in 1996 and was later certified platinum. 

He followed that up in 1998 with Dorkfish.  That platter earned a Gold certification.

Other Engvall albums include Now That’s Awesome (2000), Here's Your Sign Reloaded (2003), and Aged and Confused (2009).

In 1997, Engvall nearly cracked the Top Forty with "Here's Your Sign (Get the Picture)" (with Travis Tritt).  The song stalled at #43.  In total, he’s placed nine singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

Bill Engvall’s Biography

William Ray Engvall, Jr. was born July 27, 1957 in Galveston, Texas.  He attended high school in Richardson, Texas and college in Georgetown, Texas.  He left college before graduating.

He married Mary Gail Watson in 1982.  They have two children.
