About The Duke Blue Devils
The Duke Blue Devil’s men’s basketball team plays their home games at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The venue is situated on the West Campus of the university in Durham, North Carolina. Cameron is perhaps the best place in the nation to watch a college basketball game. That’s assuming the Blue Devils aren’t playing your favorite team.
Cameron is one of the best places to watch college hoops thanks to the team’s student section known as the Cameron Crazies. Every Duke home game, about 1,200 crazies buy Blue Devils tickets and file into the stadium. The students are well organized, clever, and usually painted in the team’s colors. They practically invented the “air ball” chant and once threw pizza boxes at a player who had, just weeks prior, been caught stealing pizzas.
The Cameron Crazies, as well as all the other Blue Devils fans that come to Cameron Indoor Stadium, have a lot to cheer about. The last time the team missed the NCAA Tournament was 1995! From 1980 to 2015, Duke has reached the Final Four twelve times. During that same time period, Duke has won five national championships and finished as runner-up three times. All the above success has occurred while Mike Krzyzewski has been coach. “Coach K” is the first Division I men's basketball coach to notch 1,000 wins.
Duke plays in the ACC. Their main rivals are the North Carolina Tar Heels. When those two teams clash, regardless of win-loss records, it’s a big deal. Prominent Blue Devils over the years include Johnny Dawkins, Danny Ferry, Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley, Grant Hill, Shane Battier, J.J. Redick, Jabari Parker, and Kyrie Irving.
