The 2015 Seattle Seahawks Roster

Below are the 90 players currently on the Seattle Seahawks roster. Before the start of the 2015 NFL season that number will be whittled down to 53. That doesn’t mean you should only concentrate on the names you know —Wilson, Sherman, Lynch, Thomas, and Graham.

The players that don’t make the final cut are still very likely to make an impact. Football is a physical game and injuries are inescapable. Players are going to miss games. When that happens, backups are moved into the starting lineup and practice players are moved onto the active roster.

So just because you don’t know a player’s name now, and just because they probably won’t make the final cut prior to the start of the season, doesn’t mean they won’t contribute to the Seahawks future success.

Career Highlight: Avril has returned a fumble and an interception for touchdowns.

Avril had an excellent Super Bowl XLVIII but had to leave Super Bowl XLIX with a concussion. Avril shares the same birthday with teammate J.R. Sweezy. Avril is three years older.

Scouting Report: Avril is an experienced pass rusher with a lot of veteran savvy. In Seattle, he had to get used to playing on both sides of the ball, something he didn’t do in Detroit.

Bailey, Alvin - #78

Seahawks Highlight: Bailey has started five games for the Seahawks.

Bailey is sometimes listed as a tackle but look for him to play guard. He played 26 games at Arkansas but came out after an inconsistent junior season.

Scouting Report: Bailey is a project but he has the necessary size and strength to play guard in the NFL. He’ll need to work hard to make up for his lack of athleticism and his slow feet.

2015 Roster Projection:

2015 Salary:
$4,400,000

Seahawks Highlight: Two of Baldwin's four 100-yard games have come in the playoffs.

The 12s love Baldwin’s heart and toughness but those outside the Pacific Northwest know him for his Super Bowl touchdown celebration where he pretended to defecate on the field.

Scouting Report: Baldwin led the Hawks in 2014 with 66 catches and 825 receiving yards. Both totals ranked 42nd amongst all NFL receivers.

If you read the scouting report above then you’ve probably already realized that Baldwin isn’t the greatest fantasy pick. Matthew Berry of ESPN ranked him as the 55th best wide receiver. On that same list, 17 teams have two receivers ranked higher than Baldwin while Green Bay and Denver have three.

$8,000,000

NFL Highlight: In his seven-year NFL career, Bennett has compiled 30.5 sacks

In early May, Bennett and his wife launched a foundation to fight childhood obesity. It’s called “The Bennett Foundation” and it began with a bike ride at Bellevue Downtown Park. Bennett’s first NFL sack was against Aaron Rodgers in 2009.

Scouting Report: Since coming to Seattle in 2013, Bennett has played in every regular and postseason game. He’s asking for raise but he’s in the second year of a four-year, $28.5 million contract and has no leverage.

ESPN’s Matthew Berry has the Seahawks ranked as the top defense/special teams for the 2015 season.

Blackmon, Will - #21

$665,000

NFL Highlight: Blackmon entered the league in 2006 but has just one interception.

The Seahawks acquired Will Blackmon in March of 2015. This will be his second go-around with the team. He was previously with the Hawks in 2013 but cut before the start of the season.

Scouting Report: Blackmon is 30 and injury prone. Look for him to add veteran leadership and play in nickel packages.

College Highlight: Boyer played in 39 games for Texas.

You’ve got to love Boyer. He’s not only a 34-year-old undrafted rookie but he’s a former Green Beret! “When you get to a level like this, it’s not failing. It may not work out the way you hope, but it’s not failing.” — Nate Boyer

Scouting Report: Boyer is trying to beat out Clint Gresham as the team’s long snapper. He can snap, but being a bit undersized, he’ll have trouble blocking.

Seahawks Highlight: Britt has started 16 games for the Seahawks.

As a high school senior, Britt went 45-0 as a wrestler.

Scouting Report: Britt started every regular season game for the Seahawks in 2014. He’s quick, strong, and smart, but falls off of blocks and doesn’t finish

Seahawks Highlight: On Oct. 26, 2014, Burley had an interception and three combined tackles in a 13-9 victory over the Panthers.

Seahawks acquired Burley near the end of training camp in 2014. Then injuries forced the defensive back into action. In 2014, he compiled one sack, one interception, and five pass defenses.

Scouting Report: "We were very fortunate to pick up Marcus… He jumped right in and played for us, did a really good job. Been a very good contributor in special teams and anything we asked him to do. He's a great kid, really competitive kid, which we cherish around here.'' — Pete Carroll

2015 Salary:
$5,650,000

Seahawks Highlight: In his last four seasons, Chancellor has played just five games where he hasn't made at least one official tackle.

In the spring of 2015, Seahawks held a player’s organized training camp in Hawaii. During this time, a photo was posted online of Bruce Irvin and Jimmy Graham getting into a fight. Separating them was Chancellor. Don’t worry, the photo was in jest and featured the hash tag “#LoveOurBrothers.” There’s also video of Chancellor playing the ukulele.

Scouting Report: Chancellor is one of the main cogs of the Legion of Boom. He’s a huge, athletic, and aggressive safety. Teammate Richard Sherman said Chancellor "damages people's souls."

Walterfootball.com has the Seahawks ranked as the top defense for the 2015 season.

2015 Salary:
$435,000

College Highlight: In 2013, against Penn State, Clark had two sacks and a pass defended.

“I will hit you like I hit her” is what Clark told an Ohio hotel manager. In the fall of 2014, Clark was arrested at a Sandusky, Ohio hotel after he punched his girlfriend in the face. He was kicked off the Michigan Wolverines football team two days later. He eventually pleaded down and was sentenced to a 25-week domestic-violence-counseling course and fined $350.

Scouting Report: If you take away the domestic violence case, Clark has a tremendous upside. After all, his main weaknesses are he’s too muscular and can over run plays.

Cottom is majoring in professional flight technology. After getting picked up by the Hawks, Cottom tweeted: “I made it official! I officially signed with the Seattle Seahawks organization! #blessed #Seahawks.”

Scouting Report: Cottom is a lot like current Seahawk Will Tukuafu but with better hands. Another reason why the Seahawks like him: he ran a 4.62 40-yard dash at his pro day in March.

Seahawks Highlight: On Nov. 2, 2014, Coyle made his first NFL start in a 30-24 triumph over the Raiders.

Before dedicating himself to football, Coyle was a Junior Olympic qualifying skier in his home state of Montana.

Scouting Report: Coyle is a hard worker and a tough guy. He just lacks the athleticism of those above him on the depth chart.

At Idaho, prior to the 2013 college football season, Davis was converted from a defensive lineman to an offensive lineman. Not helping his transition was the fact that the Vandals offensive line struggled all season.

Scouting Report: Davis has the size to play tackle in the NFL but his inexperience makes him a long shot to make the 53-man roster.

Dobbs is not only a defensive end he’s also a tight end (as well as a special teamer). In fact, there was a time, back when he was with the 49ers, that Dobbs was listed as a tight end on the NFL’s Web site.

Scouting Report: Dobbs is a competent and respected backup. He’s not a guy you build a D-line around but he’s a guy you want in case there’s an injury to the guy you built your D-line around.

The students at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pennsylvania made a video about the Seahawks tackle. The video celebrates Gilliam’s ability to dream, to never give up, and to work hard. Gilliam attended the private boarding school after his mother sent him there to escape the streets. He was seven years old at the time.

Scouting Report: Gilliam is an offensive lineman and emergency tight end. Remember, he scored the Seahawks first touchdown in 2014 NFC Championship Game on a fake field goal.

College Highlight: Glowinski started 25 games during his last two seasons at West Virginia.

Glowinski got off on the wrong foot at the 2015 Seahawks rookie camp. He forgot to slap the “I’m in” sign hanging above the locker room exit. Coach Carroll made sure the rookie didn’t miss the sign a second time.

Scouting Report: A bona fide “gym rat,” Glowinski is powerful, competitive, smart, and tough. He’s not the greatest pass blocker though.

NFL Highlight: In his 5-year career, Graham has 42 touchdown receptions inside the red zone.

Graham was sad when he learned that he was traded from the Saints. He was sad because he thought he was going to the Oakland Raiders. He turned that frown upside down when he realized he was going to the two-time defending NFC champions Seattle Seahawks.

Scouting Report: Graham is one of the best pass catching tight ends in the NFL and a huge threat in the red zone. Unlike his time with the Saints, Graham will have to block in Seattle.

Don’t be fooled by a great tight end going to a great team. The Seahawks run more than they pass. Sure, Graham will pay huge dividends for the Hawks but not for fantasy owners. He’ll be targeted a lot less in Seattle that he was in New Orleans.

On March 20, 2015, Gresham signed a three-year extension with the team worth $2.705 million. He’s been with the Seahawks since 2010. That’s not bad for a long snapper.

Scouting Report: “He’s been as close to perfect as you can get in the last five years,” — Jon Ryan

Gwacham and his family moved from Nigeria to the United States when he was seven. “Gwacham” means “Son of God” in Nigerian and his first name is pronounced “oh-BOOM.”

Scouting Report: At Oregon State, Gwacham switched from wide receiver to defensive end. Look for him to make the Hawks as a special teamer. Obviously, he lacks experience, but he’s athletic and has a high character.

Scouting Report: Hauschka is one of the best kickers in the NFL. His career field goal percentage is 85.4 percent. His longest career field goal is 58 yards.

As far as fantasy stats go, Hauschka had a down year in 2014. Still, he’s a top ten kicker. Walterfootball.com is predicting he’ll have a 145-point season in 2015.

Seahawks Highlight: During the 2014 season, Hill compiled 5.5 sacks and an interception.

Jordan played 13 games for the Seahawks in 2014 but missed the playoffs due to injuries. His presence in the middle of the defensive line was missed (especially in the Super Bowl). “We were really fired up about Jordan Hill’s play last year when he had a chance.” — Pete Carroll.

Scouting Report: Hill is a good interior pass rusher who is quick and moves well. He doesn’t have great power and will sometimes get pushed out of the way.

In the off season, and after the team failed to extend his contract past 2015, Irvin said he was going to be in Atlanta next season. Many thought he meant the Atlanta Falcons. He actually meant the Atlanta Hawks and the NBA Playoffs.

Scouting Report: Irvin is an explosive and athletic player who has been extremely productive for the Seahawks. Going into the 2015 season his lack of a contract extension could mean a trade.

Seahawks Highlight: During a Jan.10, 2015 playoff game against the Panthers, Kearse had 3 catches for 129 yards, and a touchdown.

Kearse is a hometown favorite. He went to high school in Tacoma and attended the University of Washington. In November of 2014, Kearse “worked” at a Seattle-area Bartell Drugs. While he did spend some time behind the cash register he spent most of the hour signing autographs and hanging with fans.

Scouting Report: Kearse is the Seahawks number two receiver and one of the team’s emotional leaders. "He's become a terrific factor." – Pete Carroll

Kearse is ranked anywhere from the 67th to the 99th best fantasy wide receiver. He’s the number two receiver on a team that runs more than it throws. He’ll definitely be a factor if you’re in a 20-man league or one where you need to carry 10 receivers.

When asked what makes the Seahawks special, King said “Everybody feeds off of each other…seeing guys out there, being animated, and playing hard, makes you want to play hard.”

Scouting Report: King is a bit of a “tweener” at defensive end but he adds quality depth. In 2014, he appeared in three games for the Seahawks and managed to get to the quarterback once.

Lambert is the half-brother of Kam Chancellor. Kam and Keenan have the same mother, Karen Lambert. On his Instagram account, Kam said he felt like a “proud dad” when the Seahawks signed Keenan as an unrestricted free agent.

Scouting Report: Lambert is a good tackler and can read a quarterback. His downside is he doesn’t excel at one aspect of the game. Having a brother on the team will be a huge help. He’ll definitely know what to expect.

In January of 2015, Lane appeared, along with the rest of Legion of Boom, on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Scouting Report: Lane had an awful Super Bowl. Not only was he on the losing side but he broke his arm and tore his ACL. He may miss the start of the 2015 NFL season. Lane is the Seahawks “slot corner.”

College Highlight: Lockett set 17 school records at Kansas State.

It runs in the Lockett family. Lockett’s father and uncle also played in the NFL. Tyler, however, says his mother is the source of his speed and mental toughness. Lockett’s mother travels with her son everywhere.

Scouting Report: Lockett is undersized and doesn’t always secure the ball. Still, he’s very talented and productive. Better yet, he’s a good returner. He was the star of the Seahawks 2015 rookie camp.

With Lockett turning heads in Seattle and everyone thinking he’ll eventually work his way into the starting lineup, he might be a nice pickup for your dynasty team.

Lockette was the target of that goal line pass that cornerback Malcolm Butler intercepted to win Super Bowl XLIX for the Patriots. The speedster is also a former NCAA Division II 200-meter track champion.

Scouting Report: Obviously, Lockett’s strength is his speed, but he has two big negatives: his hands are poor and he doesn’t run routes very well. Lockette is also a special teams contributor.

“Beast Mode” is known for his tough running style, his penchant for Skittles, and his shunning of the media. Actually, Lunch has made several high profile media appearances. He has appeared on Conan and in an episode of The League.

Scouting Report: : They don't call Lynch "Beast Mode" for nothing. He might be the hardest running back to tackle in the history of the NFL. He also has decent speed and good hands. If he has one weakness it's short yardage and goal line. Nonetheless, Lynch is the heart and soul of the Seahawks.

Is this the year Lynch finally shows his age and his numbers decrease? Could be but who wants to bet against "Beast Mode?" At the time of writing this article, ESPN has Lynch at number five on their Top 300 fantasy players for 2015.

Marsh’s father played in the NFL in the mid-1990s. His brother, Curtis Marsh, Jr., is currently a cornerback with the Broncos.

McCoy has an Achilles Heel which is, coincidentally, his Achilles tendon. He missed both the 2013 and 2014 season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Scouting Report: A solid backup tight end, McCoy lacks the speed and elusiveness of a top-tier pass receiver. On the plus side, he’s a good blocker, has solid hands, and he knows how to use his big frame.

McNeil attended four colleges: Virginia Tech, James Madison, Community College of Baltimore County, and Bowie State University. He played football at the latter. To help stay in shape, McNeil resorted to playing flag football.

Scouting Report: McNeil blew up the Arena League. He dazzled everyone with his ability to catch passes in traffic. It will be interesting to see how that translates in the NFL.

Mebane calls his belly-roll dance “Pumps and a Bump.” He says the inspiration behind the celebratory boogie is MC Hammer. You’ll see Mebane whip out “Pumps and a Bump” after a big play in the backfield.

Scouting Report: Mebane has great balance and leverage. He does a respectable job at attracting, and handling, a double team. In doing so, he frees up his teammates to make plays.

2015 Salary:
$920,300

Seahawks Highlight: On Nov. 9, 2014, Michael had 71 yards on four carries in a 38-17 victory over the Giants.

Michael’s first name is pronounced “Chris- TIN.” His mother selected the name because she thought Michael was going to be a girl. Yes, he was teased a lot as a child.

Scouting Report: A lack of carries makes it hard to analyze Michael at the NFL level. He could be the heir apparent to Lynch or he could be a future ex-Seahawk. Michael is a north-south runner with a low-center of gravity. He is injury prone.

At best, Michael is a dynasty pick. Of course, if “Beast Mode” suddenly turns into “IR Mode” then Michael might be worth a second look. Seahawks run a lot and he’ll get a decent number of carries.

Seahawks Highlight: On Dec. 21, 2014, Milton appeared in the Seahawks 35-6 win over the Cardinals.

Milton is cousin of Texans cornerback Josh Aubrey. The Browns not only united Milton with his aforementioned family member but they converted him from tight end to tackle. The Seahawks list him as a guard.

Scouting Report: Odd that the Browns made Milton into a tackle since blocking was not one of his strengths as a tight end.

Seahawks Highlight: On Nov. 11, 2012, Morgan compiled six combined tackles in a 28-7 victory over the Jets.

Morgan likes the opening kickoff of a football game. He believes that he can help “set the tempo for the whole team.” With that being said, Morgan scored his first NFL touchdown in 2014 when he picked up a blocked punt and ran it into the end zone.

Scouting Report: Morgan is one of the Seahawks key bench players. He backs up K.J. Wright and is an important special teams player.

College Highlight: Murphy started 39 games for Oregon State.

Murphy cites as his mentors Josh Johnson (currently trying to make the Bengals team), Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, and teammate Marshawn Lynch. Marshawn is also his cousin. His favor athlete, however, is LeBron James.

Scouting Report: Murphy does not secure the ball on defense (i.e. he doesn’t get a lot of interceptions). He does have the ability to cover deep and he’s super athletic. He should compete for the backup safety position now that Jeron Johnson is a Redskin.

College Highlight: During his career at Georgia Tech, Nealy amassed eight interceptions, six fumble recoveries and four defensive touchdowns.

Last season at George Tech, Nealy impressed the media enough to be named second-team All-ACC and coaches enough to earn third-team All-ACC honors. He was a four-year starter for the Yellow Jackets.

Scouting Report: Nealy has great instincts and is football smart (he’s a film junkie). He lacks athleticism and size you usually see at his position. He probably won’t be productive enough to be a starter, or even the first one off the bench, but the practice squad is not out of the question.

Seahawks Highlight: On Dec. 28, 2014, Norwood had two catches for 34 yards in a 20-6 win over the Rams.

Norwood proposed to his girlfriend, Kayla Williams, a member of the University of Alabama gymnastics team, after a meet. Norwood proposed after handing out awards and posing for a photograph with her and her coach. And of course she said yes.

Scouting Report: Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell called Norwood “smooth.” He also said the wide out has great hands. In the negative column, you’ll find checks in the boxes next to “short arms” and “doesn’t create separation.”

In 2013, Nowak escaped serious injury when he totaled his car. The lineman tweeted: “Awesome way to end my night, T Boned by a guy running a red light speeding and totaling my car.”

Scouting Report: Nowak was originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags had him morph from a defensive tackle to an offensive lineman.

Seahawks Highlight: Okung has started 59 regular season games for the Seahawks.

Okung was the first player drafted by General Manager John Schneider and Head Coach Pete Carroll. “…put forth your best effort all the time. Whether you play basketball, football, or you’re a ballerina, be passionate about it and always do your best.” — Russell Okung

Scouting Report: Okung made the Pro Bowl in 2012 and is pretty much the anchor of the Hawks’ offensive line. He is susceptible to injuries—since coming into the league in 2010, he’s averaging just under 12 starts a season.X

Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, Pericak was a fan of the Broncos. His favorites were John Elway and Bill Romanowski. In 2014, he was with the Broncos organization during the preseason.

Pierre-Louis thinks Seattle is a great place to live. He says the “people are generous and the 12th Nation are unbelievable. You can take a drive and go skiing. Anything you want to do you CAN do in Seattle.” Pierre-Louis’ rookie season was cut short by injury.

Scouting Report: Pierre-Louis is an effort guy as well as a very productive weakside linebacker. He can get tricked by playaction and occasionally wastes his steps. He doesn’t always shed blocks.

Need some motivation? Check out Pinkins’ Twitter page (@epinkins27). It’s full of inspiration tweets including: “You'll never accomplish anything if you don't believe that you can do it.”

Scouting Report: Pinkins has moved from defensive back to strongside linebacker. So he lacks experience and knowledge. On the plus side, this move might actually get him on the field. It definitely plays to his strengths which are speed and toughness.

College Highlight: In 2013, Poole allowed just two sacks in 492 dropbacks.

Poole is close friends with Eric Pinkins—both played college ball at San Diego State. He’s also a fan of Tom Cable, the Seahawks assistant head coach/offensive line coach. Poole, who hails from the Bay Area, followed Cable’s career when he coached the Raiders from 2008 through 2

Scouting Report: Poole doesn’t have the athleticism to play on the left side of the line. So look for him at right tackle or even right guard. Poole does give maximum effort and takes pride in being the most physical player on the field.

On April 8, 2014, Rawls and two others were arrested for stealing a 62-year-old woman’s purse at an Indian casino. He was initially charged with three felonies but was able to reduce that via a plea deal. The end result was a year’s probation and 104 hours of community service.

Scouting Report: Rawls is a powerful runner who can make sharp cuts. He doesn’t always protect the ball or the passer. Of course, his biggest drawback is his inability to stay out of trouble with the law.

Richardson’s father was also a wide receiver. Paul, Sr. played at UCLA and was invited to four NFL camps with four different teams. He played one game for the Eagles in 1993. Richardson committed to UCLA but a felony theft charge got him kicked off the team.

Scouting Report: His strengths are speed, speed, and speed. In fact, Richardson relies a little too much on his gallop. He may not be ready for the start of 2015 season after tearing his ACL in January.

Robinson went undrafted in 2013 but still managed to break into the league by signing with the Raiders. He played 11 games for the Silver and Black in 2013 amassing four tackles and a pass defense.

Scouting Report: Robinson is an undersized defensive end. To be effective he must use his speed. He also needs to stay low and have faith in his hands. He has a great attitude and wants to get better.

Rubin is one of nine who has played 100 or more games for the Cleveland Browns. He wanted to retired a Brown but relocating to Seattle means he’ll finally get to play in the postseason.

Scouting Report: Rubin is coming off of a down year thanks to an ankle injury. It remains to be seen if the injury slows his usual quick first step. He’s always around the ball, splits double-teams, and is stout against the run.

Seahawks Highlight: On Sept. 11, 2011, in a 33-17 loss to the 49ers, Ryan posted the longest punt of his career, 77 yards.

Ryan is one of the funniest Seahawks on the roster. For example, on Twitter, he joked about a play where his fumble led to an opponent’s touchdown: “Sorry that I haven't tweeted much the past 2 weeks but every time I picked up my phone to tweet I dropped it.”

Scouting Report: Since the Seahawks defense is so good, Ryan doesn’t need to be spectacular. He just needs to be solid and consistent. He averages 44.7 yards a punt and he places about 25 punts inside the 20-yardline a season.

Scouting Report: “He’s got a real cool brain. He picked it up pretty quick and was able to change his whole mindset. He’s never done this before … and just kind of progressed through the days, and today I thought was pretty cool watching him.” — Tom Cable

Scruggs is very talented. Not only did he play football and basketball at St. Xavier High School he was also in the marching band.

Shead attended Portland State where he was a four-year starter and a decathlete. He says training for the decathlon has helped him play both the safety and cornerback positions.

Scouting Report: Shead can play multiple positions and can do so against the run and pass. He moves well and is very athletic. He struggles to shed blocks, lacks ball skills, and doesn’t always take the proper angle.

Seahawks Highlight: Sherman had 24 interceptions during his first four years in the NFL. Also during that time, he posted a -3.0 punt return average.

Sherman and his girlfriend welcomed their son Rayden into world on February 5, 2015. Numerically, his birthday is 2-5. Sherman’s number is 25. "My son sure does know how to make an entrance!... Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I'm ecstatic!"

Scouting Report: Due to his coverage skills and football acumen, Sherman is widely considered the best defensive back in the NFL. He’s huge for a corner and is great at tracking the football. If he has a weakness, it’s his lack of blazing speed.

Fantasyfootballnerd.com has the Seahawks ranked as the top defense for the 2015 season.

Seahawks Highlight: On Dec. 7, 2014, Siimon picked off the quarterback in a 24-14 victory over the Eagles.

It’s special to have a city plan an entire day in your honor. It’s embarrassing to have that day canceled because you were arrested at party the night before the 2013 NFL Draft. That’s exactly what happened to Simon.

Scouting Report: Simon possesses amazing instincts. He’s also aggressive, big, and has great ball skills. If his technique and speed were better he could start in the NFL.

College Highlight: Singleton had 15 tackles for a loss during his senior season at MSU.

During his last two seasons at Montana State, Singleton tackled the ball carrier 246 times—31.5 of those tackles were for a loss. Singleton could be the second undrafted free agent from a Big Sky school to make the Seahawks in as many years.

Scouting Report: A lack of speed and playing for a FCS school is why Singleton went undrafted. After the draft, he was immediately signed by Seahawks because he shows tremendous awareness, he’s a good tackler, and he moves very well.

Seahawks Highlight: On Sept. 15, 2013, Smith had four combined tackles in a 29-3 win over 49ers.

Smith was born in Berlin. In high school, Smith played football, basketball, and track and field. He was the district champion in the shot put for four years and state champ for two.

Scouting Report: Scouts describe Smith as athletic and say he has a good burst off the line. They also question his love of the game—he may not be as motivated as most.

College Highlight: In 2012, Smith was named captain when Washington played Washington State.

To help with his speed before the 2014 NFL Draft, Smith worked with former 100-meter world-record holder Maurice Green in Redondo Beach. Green helped him stay in his “drive phrase.”

Scouting Report: At the University of Washington, Smith started at the bottom of the depth chart. He will have to do the same thing with the Seahawks. His main advantage is his speed.

College Highlight: Smith didn't lose a yard rushing until his 76th attempt from scrimmage. In fact, he only had one carry for negative yards during his entire Ohio State career.

In 2014, Smith was kicked off the Ohio State Buckeyes for failing a drug test. At the conclusion of the 2011 season, he missed the team flight to the Gator Bowl. He also missed time during spring practice due to low grades.

Scouting Report: Smith is one of those players that since coming out of high school has been touted for his potential but that potential has never materialized. Like he did at Ohio State, look for Smith to be a goal line and/or short yardage back in the NFL.

College Highlight: Smith had five interceptions during his fours years at Towson.

Smith shares a birthday with another 2015 Seattle Seahawk draft pick, Mark Glowinski. Smith is a year younger. Towson University (Baltimore) was the only college that offered Smith an athletic scholarship.

Scouting Report: Smith is a tremendous competitor and he possesses a ferocious work ethic. Everything else he brings to the field is negated by his lack of girth and his lack of strength.

Sokoli was born in Albania. He immigrated to the United States when he was nine. When he came to America he didn’t speak English. Sokoli picked up football when he was 13.

Scouting Report: Sokoli is very athletic. He plays with energy and good leverage, but he’s not very explosive off the snap. He played nose tackle in college but in Seattle he'll need to learn how to play on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

College Highlight: In 2013, Staten was voted team captain.

Staten learned he had been drafted by the Seahawks during his graduation ceremony from Middle Tennessee State. The president of the university even announced his selection to the crowd. Staten was the 172nd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Scouting Report: Staten is one of the most likeable guys on the team as well as one of the strongest. He has most of the intangibles you want in a defensive end except for a feel for the game. Basically, Staten is raw.

Seahawks Highlight: Sweezy has started 34 regular season games for the Seahawks.

In 2014, Sweezy made an additional $259,704 from performance based pay. His base salary was $570,000. His $259,704 was good enough for 17th in the league and the only Seahawk in the top 25.

Scouting Report: Sweezy played defensive tackle in college but the Seahawks moved him to guard. He’s fast, tough, and a little nasty. He’s still prone to bonehead mistakes.

Terrell, Patrick Lewis, and Christine Michael all signed with Texas A&M in 2009. “Around here they always make you feel like you are part of the team whether you are on the practice squad or not…” — Steven Terrell.

Scouting Report: Terrell is a ball hawk. He’s not afraid to work and he possesses a great attitude. To really see how he can play, Terrell needs to get on a roster. He’s been with three teams and has played just four games.

Seahawks Highlight: During his first 5 years in the NFL, Thomas has forced 8 fumbles.

In early May of 2014, Thomas, along with Washington State governor Jay Inslee, visited Dimmitt Middle School for a demonstration of computer programming. The safety was at the school on the behalf of The Earl Thomas III Guardian Angel Foundation. Thomas’s foundation will be sponsoring similar events in the future.

Scouting Report: Thomas is the epitome of a NFL safety. He’s never missed a game and has been named All-Pro for four consecutive seasons.

Jamey Eisenberg, senior fantasy writer for CBS Sports, has the Seahawks ranked as the top defense for the 2015 season.

Seahawks Highlight: In the 2014 NFC Championship Game, Tukuafu caught a pass for eight yards.

On Christmas Day 2014, Tukuafu started a family tradition by handing out gift bags (full of food, beverages, and toiletries) to Seattle homeless. The fullback was joined by his wife, their two-year-old daughter and their two-month-old son.

Scouting Report: Besides fullback, Tukuafu can also play defensive end (his original position in the NFL). There’s also been talk of him playing tight end. He lacks experience and doesn’t have the greatest hands but he opens up holes for Beast Mode.

2015 Salary:
$774,114

Seahawks Highlight: On Dec. 9, 2012, Turbin gained 108 yards on 20 carries in a 58-0 victory over the Cardinals.

Turbin has experienced a lot of tragedy during his young life. His older sister was born with cerebral palsy. His other sister succumbed to multiple sclerosis when she was just 21. If that wasn’t enough, his cousin was shot to death in Oakland. Turbin had offseason hip surgery but he should definitely be ready for the start of the 2015 season.

Scouting Report: Despite the misfortune of backing up the NFL’s best running back, the only other thing working against Turbin is his pass blocking. Turbin is athletic, fast, and tough enough to be starting in the NFL.

The Seahawks run a lot and Turbin will get more carries than most backup running backs. Even so, Lynch shows no signs of slowing down. If “Beast Mode” ever does slow down, then Turbin would be a good get.

Wade is one of two players (the other being Ashaad Mabry) from UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio) to make it to the NFL. The UTSA football program began in 2011.

Scouting Report: Wade has great speed and quickness but it’s all countered by his small stature and lack of strength. He’s a good special teams player.

$1,370,663

Seahawks Highlight: In the 2013 NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, Wagner had 15 combined tackles.

Between the 2014 and 2015 seasons, a handful of players, who were in their prime, retired—Chris Borland, Patrick Willis, Jake Locker, and Jason Worilds. Wagner responded by tweeting: “No offense to anyone but I'm playing until I can't anymore. I love this game to much.” He’d also like a contract extension before the start of the 2015 season. As things stand, Wagner is the 41st highest paid inside linebacker.

Scouting Report: Wagner’s speed, intelligence, and tenacity belie his small size (at least for an NFL middle linebacker). When he’s in the lineup, the Seahawks defense is especially formidable.

Dave Richard, senior fantasy writer for CBS Sports, has the Seahawks ranked as the second best defense for the 2015 season. He has the Texans at number one.

Warmsley’s brother was part of the Boston Celtics organization and played professional basketball in Europe. In 2009, Warmsley enrolled in the U.S. Military Preparatory School.

Scouting Report: Warmsley is quick off the snap but lacks speed. He’s a good athlete but lacks the size needed to play defensive end in the NFL. He’s not an every down DE but could be productive in certain situations.

While an Eagle, Williams got into a fight during a joint practice with the Patriots, skipped a voluntary workout to shop for sconces for his new home, and said Head Coach Chip Kelly’s practices were making players tired for their games.

Scouting Report: Williams is a veteran cornerback tasked to make the last run of his career part of the Seahawks next run to the Super Bowl. Williams won a championship in 2012 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

In May of 2015, Williams was diagnosed with papillary type 2 cancer. The dianosis comes after Williams missed two seasons due to knee injuries. His nickname is "Tha Monstar."

Scouting Report: Since he didn’t start playing football until he was 15, Williams lack of experience occasionally takes him out of a play. Still, he’s a big guy who gets low and makes it hard for opponents to move him. He has a nice first burst and knows how to use his hands.

Seahawks Highlight: On Dec. 21, 2014, Willson caught 3 passes for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 35-6 victory over the Cardinals.

Russell Wilson isn’t the only phonetic “Wilson” that knows how to play baseball. Willson signed with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Ontario native also played with the Canadian Junior National baseball team.

Scouting Report: Willson isn’t great at any one aspect of the game but solid at just about all of them. He’s athletic and can make difficult catches. He knows how to block.

Willson is a long shot. He has potential but with Jimmy Graham's arrival, and the fact that the Seahawks don't throw much, Willson isn't going to consistently score fantasy points.

$1,696,868

Seahawks Highlight: Wilson has rushed for 1,877 yards and 11 touchdowns. His career average is 6.4 yards per carry.

In late April of 2015, Wilson was flying back to Seattle when he saw a U.S. soldier take a seat in coach. Wilson upgraded the G.I. to first class. The solider showed his appreciation on Twitter and the Super Bowl winning quarterback responded: “Anytime... Thanks for serving our great country by serving with the Army! #GoUSA”

Scouting Report:Parse Wilson’s stats and style anyway you want, but here’s all you need to know about his abilities: in his first three seasons as the Seahawks starting quarterback his team lost just 14 games (including postseason), but only one of those losses was by more than a touchdown and none were by double digits. Manning, Brady, Rodgers, and Luck can’t make that claim.

Wilson had a top-five fantasy finish in 2014. He should do the same in 2015 especially since he has Jimmy Graham to throw to. Wilson is one of those rare fantasy quarterbacks who can throw, run, and avoid huge hits that can knock him out of the game.

During a live internet chat in December of 2014, Wright said his nickname is “Spider.” Wright grew up a Cowboys fan. So his Thanksgivings meant eating a lot of turkey and watching his favorite team on TV.

Scouting Report: Wright is speedy and active. He’s built to play in the NFL and knows how to tackle. He’s not the best when it comes to dropping into pass coverage and he occasionally takes the wrong angle to the man with the ball.
