About U2
U2 has done it all.
The foursome from Dublin, Ireland has sold more than 140 million albums.
They have won more Grammy awards (22) than any other band.
They have already been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Fame. They entered the hall in 2005, their first year of eligibility, and were inducted by Bruce Springsteen.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked them as the 22nd greatest artist of all time.
They have performed at Live Aid, the Super Bowl and released two full length feature films, including the first live-action film shot, produced, and screened exclusively with both 3-D and digital cinema technology.
At one time or another, the band, or one of its members, has campaigned for Amnesty International, the ONE Campaign, and Bono's DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade in Africa) campaign.

U2 is arguably the greatest band of their generation.
Currently, U2 is set to release their twelfth album, “No Line on the Horizon,” in March of 2009.
To promote the album, the band has been booked to guest on the “Late Show with David Lettermen” for an entire week; the first time Lettermen has ever booked an act for five consecutive shows.
U2 will tour to support the new album in the summer. Bono also announced that another U2 album will be released by the end of 2009 featuring material recorded during the “No Line on the Horizon” sessions.
Since 1978, the band has consisted of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr. The band’s first album, “Boy,” was released in 1980 and was produced by Steve Lillywhite.
While the band was relevant and meaningful all through the 1980’s they were also raw and unfocused. It wasn’t until 1987 and the release of “The Joshua Tree” that U2 finally put it all together and propelled themselves into the stratosphere of rock and roll royalty.

Since then, the band has continually reinvented themselves with albums like “Achtung Baby,” “Zooropa,” “Pop” and “All That You Can't Leave Behind” as well as massive, record-breaking tours like “Zoo TV,” “PopMart” and “The Elevation Tour.”
However, U2 had its genesis way back in 1976 in Larry Mullen’s kitchen.
Mullen had posted an ad at his school seeking musicians for a band, “The Larry Mullen Band.” Seven boys showed up, including Clayton, The Edge and Bono.
According to Mullen, “It was ’The Larry Mullen Band' for about ten minutes, then Bono walked in and blew any chance I had of being in charge."
