What are Chippendales shows like? Are they seamy affairs with attendees in trench coats watching men with mommy issues strip? The answer to that question is an emphatic NO! Chippendales is a dance show. It’s not a strip show all though the dancers (all men) take off their clothes. By the way, you won’t see any “D.” It’s not that kind of show.
Chippendales is an all-male dance troupe that also happens to strip. They are famous for their beautiful bodies and their sexy choreography. Their famous costumes consist of a bow-tie with shirt cuffs worn sans the shirt. Their company’s web site calls their brand of entertainment “girls night out” although everyone is welcome.
If you have Chippendales tickets don’t worry about bringing dollar bills. Again, it’s not that type of show. Also, you can’t touch the dancers (unless you’re brought on stage), there are no lap dances (again, it’s not that type of show), there are no champagne rooms, and you can’t take the dancers home. Basically, Chippendales is a night of fantastic entertainment designed for women.
What Year Did Chippendales Begin?
Chippendales started in 1979 after some businessmen purchased a nightclub. To drum up business they came up with the idea of an all-male strip show.
Yet, this all-male strip show had a gimmick. They presented it in a clean and secure environment where women felt safe to watch hot men dance and take off their clothes.
How did Chippendales get its name? The name came from the Chippendales style furniture that decorated the night club where the troupe started.
Will Chippendales Ruin Boyfriends and Husbands?
According to Chippendales, the reverse is true. A lot of women who attend a Chippendales show come home ready to go.
Another common myth about Chippendales dancers is the dancers are all gay. The men of Chippendales are neither all gay nor all straight. They are mixed just like any other group of people would be.
Apparently, the rumor that all the dancers are gay was created by jealous boyfriends and husbands.
Where Did Chippendales Originate?
Chippendales originated in Los Angeles. More specifically, Chippendales originated at Destiny II, a nightclub located on McCune Avenue in Palms (a neighborhood located on the west side of Los Angeles).
Today, Chippendales performs all over the world. Chippendales tours are annually launched in North America and frequently undertaken in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America.
Chippendales is seen by more than 2 million people every year.
One of the most popular places to see Chippendales is in Las Vegas. The all-male revue has a residency show at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. The Rio built a $10 million theater and lounge especially for Chippendales.
Chippendales is currently owned by Chippendales USA and is run by Kevin Denberg.
