About The Cleveland Cavaliers Playoffs

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ playoff history can be split into two eras: the era where the team lost to Michael Jordan and the era where the team lost with LeBron James.

During Michael Jordan’s time with the Chicago Bulls, the 1984-1985 season through the 1997-1998 season, the Cavs made the NBA Playoffs ten times.  Five of those playoff runs were ended by Jordan and the Bulls.

LeBron James was drafted by the Cavs prior to the 2003-2004 season.

From then until the end of the 2009-2010 season, the Cavaliers made the NBA postseason five times.  The team won eight playoff series but failed to win a championship.

James led Cleveland to the 2007 NBA Finals where they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs.  Two years later, the Cavs lost the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals to the Orlando Magic.

After the 2009-2010 season, James took his talents to South Beach (the Miami Heat).  He returned to the Cavs organization before the start of the 2014-2015 season.

After a slow start, James led the Cavaliers to an appearance in the 2015 NBA Finals.  Unfortunately, injuries ravaged the team and they fell to the Golden State Warriors in six games.

The Cavaliers play their home playoff games at the Quicken Loans Arena.  You’ll find the “The Q” in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
