About the Zac Brown Band
The Zac Brown Band was formed in 2002. After touring extensively, they released their first album, Far from Einstyne, in 2004. Their sophomore effort, Home Grown, came out in December of 2005. Both albums were released independently on Zac Brown's own label, Home Grown (it's now called Southern Ground). The band signed with a major label, Atlantic, for their third studio album, The Foundation. Released in 2008, The Foundation peaked at number two on the Billboard country charts and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Country Album. The album produced five hit singles, "Chicken Fried," "Whatever It Is," "Toes," "Highway 20 Ride," and "Free." The single "Whatever It Is" peaked at number two on the Country singles charts while the other four went all the way to number one.
The band released its fourth studio album, You Get What You Give, in 2010. The album debuted at number one on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums charts. The first single from the album was "As She's Walking Away." The song, featuring Alan Jackson, became the band's fifth number one country single in November of 2010. Also appearing on the album were Jimmy Buffett and famed bluegrass guitarist Tony Rice.
The Zac Brown Band features lead vocalist and guitarist Zac Brown, fiddle player Jimmy De Martini, bass player John Driskell Hopkins, guitarist and keyboardist Coy Bowles, drummer Chris Fryar, and multi-instrumentalist Clay Cook. The band's namesake was born in Cumming, Georgia in 1978, the 11th of 12 children. Brown learned to play classical guitar when he was just seven years old and by the time he was a teenager he was playing gigs around his hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia.
Zac Brown Band tickets have been sold to several big time music festivals including Bonnaroo, Hullabalou, and The Hangout. Besides their own material, the quintet is known to cover a wide range of artists during their live shows—everyone from The Beatles to Charlie Daniels. In 2011, the Zac Brown Band toured with country superstar Kenny Chesney.
