If you attend a Kendrick Lamar concert you might want to hold on to something. We don’t mean that literally. The venue isn’t going to blast off into space. It’s just that Lamar is such an exciting and dynamic performer that he will take you on a musical thrill ride.
At a Lamar show, you should plan on screaming, cheering, dancing, and singing along. From the moment he appears on stage, until he says goodnight, Lamar exudes energy and passion.
Lamar was born and raised in Compton, California. When he first started performing, he went by the name K-Dot. His real-name is Kendrick Lamar Duckworth.
Lamar’s first album on a major label, good kid, m.A.A.d city, hit streets in 2012 and immediately entered the charts at number two. He followed that up with To Pimp a Butterfly in 2015 and Damn in 2017.
Before that, Lamar released several mixtapes and the studio album, Section 80. All were well-received and earned him a large internet following.
Some of Lamar’s most popular songs are “HiiiPoWeR,” “Swimming Pools (Drank),” “Poetic Justice (featuring Drake),” “Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe,” and “Humble.”
Lamar’s cousin is NBA player Nick Young. As a child, Lamar watched Tupac Shakur and Dr. Dre film their music video to their song “California Love.” The rapper considers himself a Christian.
