“He comes back with the script, and it's racist like a 1940's newspaper.” — Katt Williams
His real name is Micah Sierra Williams but you know him better as “Katt” Williams. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Williams began performing stand-up in the 1990s. In 2006, he celebrated his first comedy special, Katt Williams: Live: Let a Playa Play.
Williams’ act is raunchy, aggressive, and thoroughly adult. He uses the “f-word” and “n-word” profusely and frequently calls women the “b-word.” It took a long time to find a quote that didn’t contain multiple uses of any of the aforementioned pejoratives. Williams cracks wise on a variety of subjects including race, drugs, politics, and sex.
Williams’ second comedy special, The Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1, also came in 2006, and it aired on HBO. The following year, Williams starred in the film American Hustle. The movie was half narrative and half stand-up. It also starred Jeremy Piven, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and Taran Killam.
In 2008, Williams enjoyed his second HBO comedy special, Pimpin’ Pimpin’. For the next four years, Williams refrained from doing stand-up. He triumphantly returned to the microphone in 2012 with his third HBO special, and fourth comedy special overall, Kattpacalypse.
Also in 2012, Williams retired from comedy for three days. The brief retirement occurred after Williams failed to appear at a show in Seattle and was arrested following an altercation at bar.
Williams’ fourth HBO special debuted in August of 2014. The special, Katt Williams: Priceless: Afterlife, was directed by Spike Lee.
Williams has appeared in the television shows NYPD Blue, My Wife and Kids, and The Boondocks (voice only). His film credits include Friday After Next, Norbit, Epic Movie, and Scary Movie 5.
The only thing longer than Williams’ television and film credits is his arrest record. Williams has been arrested at least nine times. He’s been cuffed by police for carrying a concealed firearm, felony intimidation of a witness, assault with a deadly weapon, and endangering his four children.
In 2010, Williams was arrested after he allegedly stole $3,500 worth of coins and jewelry. A little odd since Williams was an established star at the time.
In 2012, Williams was arrested after leading police on a chase while driving a three-wheeled motorbike. Apparently, Williams drove on the sidewalk and hit five people while eluding police.
