About the Jonas Brothers

Nick had already performed in several Broadway shows when he co-wrote "Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)" with his father. He recorded it with the Beauty and the Beast cast for the 2002 "Equity Fights AIDS" album. The song was so well received that it eventually earned Nick a recording contract. However, after hearing him perform with his brothers, Joe and Kevin, the record company decided to sign them as a group called the Jonas Brothers.

The Jonas Brothers hail from New Jersey. Their father was a pastor with the Assemblies of God church and they were homeschooled by their mother. Kevin is the oldest, born in 1987. He's followed by Joe who was born two years later and then Nick who was born in 1992.

The brothers released their first album, It's About Time, in 2006. The album was originally released in the Christian bookstores than released again with a slightly different track listing to appeal to pop audiences.

After being dropped by Columbia Records in early 2007, the brothers signed with Hollywood Records, a subsidiary of Disney. The brothers released their self-titled sophomore effort later that year. The album featured the singles "Hold On," "SOS," and "When You Look Me in the Eyes." It was also the first album released with Disney's CDVU technology (allows for additional extras to be included on a compact disc).

Their hugely successful sophomore effort propelled them to superstardom. This fame was supported by a U.S. Tour and several appearances on the Disney Channel. The brothers released their third studio album, A Little Bit Longer, in August of 2008. The work was both a commercial and critical success. The opus received rave reviews from Rolling Stone magazine, Blender, the Los Angeles Times, and Allmusic. The sales and acclaim were not there for their 2009 offering, Lines Vines and Trying Times, but it still managed to debut at number one and remain on the charts for 27 weeks.

The Jones Brothers have sold nearly 10 million albums worldwide and have been nominated for a Grammy Award. The band has won an American Music Award and 18 Teen Choice Awards. They've appeared on the television show Hannah Montana and in the movies Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. They are also the subject of their own reality series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream, airing on the Disney Channel.

The brothers project a wholesome family image thanks to their faith and a vow to abstain from premarital sex. All three brothers wear a purity ring on their left hand. The Jonas Brothers also claim to be drug and alcohol free.
