About Il Divo

Il Divo is the brainchild of American Idol judge Simon Cowell. After hearing Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman sing “Con te partirò,? Cowell was inspired to form a multinational quartet that sang pop-opera.

After a two-year worldwide search, Cowell finally settled on the quartet’s lineup: American tenor David Miller, Spanish baritone Carlos Marín, Swiss tenor Urs Bühler and French pop singer Sébastien Izambard.

Il Divo has released five studio albums and was featured on “Voices from the FIFA World Cup,? a complication of songs released in conjunction with the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

The group’s big break came when they appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in April of 2005 singing their international hit "Regresa a Mi."

In 2006, Il Divo performed live at the half time show of the opening match of 2006 FIFA World Cup. They sang the tournament’s official song, “The Time of Our Lives? with R&B singer Toni Braxton. They also performed a month later at the World Cup’s closing ceremony.

After a grueling tour through America, Australia and Europe, Il Divo appeared as special guests for Barbra Streisand’s 2006 tour of North America. Il Divo helped make "Streisand: The Tour" the second highest grossing tour of 2006, generating over $92 million in sales.

Il Divo also performed on American Idol’s “Idol Gives Back? show in 2007.

Il Divo sings in English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Latin. The band is also known for their impeccable fashion sense.

Some interesting facts about the members of the band: Miller performed at the White House for President Clinton in 1998; Marín sang in Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas? and Disney’s Spanish version of “Cinderella;? Bühler current girlfriend is Tania Rodney, hair and make-up artist to Il Divo; and Izambard suffers from vertigo.
