About Jeff Dunham

Jeff Dunham is a ventriloquist and one of America's most popular and successful stand-up comedians.

His style is dressed down and folksy while his comedy is politically incorrect, gratuitous and bawdy.

Some of his characters are Walter, the grumpy old man; Peanut, a purple-skinned woozle; Bubba J, a white trash, trailer park redneck; Sweet Daddy Dee, a "pimp" or "Player In the Management Profession;" and Achmed the Dead terrorist, a skeleton who often yells, "Silence! I kill you."

Dunham is one of few stand-ups still working that has appeared on the Tonight Show when it was hosted by Johnny Carson. He appeared on the show in 1990 and after his set Carson invited him over to the couch. That was considered a huge honor for a comedian and a sign that Carson approved of your act.

Dunham has also appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman, Ellen, Blue Collar TV, and 30 Rock.

In 2003, Dunham made his first solo appearance on Comedy Central. His first Comedy Central special, Jeff Dunham: Arguing with Myself, was taped in 2006. His second special, Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity, followed a year later.

In November of 2008, Jeff Dunham's Very Special Christmas Special became the highest rated broadcast in the history of Comedy Central.

In 2009, Dunham signed a lucrative deal with Comedy Central that includes a fourth stand-up special, a 60-city comedy tour, and a television series.

The television series, called The Jeff Dunham Show, debuted on Comedy Central on Oct. 22, 2009 and garnered the highest ratings ever for a premiere on that network.

According to Forbes.com, Dunham was one of the highest earning comics of 2008 raking in over $30 million. Pollstar, a publication dedicated to the concert industry, ranks him as the top-grossing stand-up act in North America.

Dunham has sold more than four million DVD's and his videos on Youtube have received over 350 million hits. This exposure has made Dunham one of the most-viewed entertainers in the history of the planet.

Dunham was born in 1962 in Dallas, Texas. He began practicing ventriloquism when he was eight years old. He graduated from Baylor University in 1986.

Another one of Dunham's passions is building and flying his own kit helicopters.
