About Mr. David Sedaris

Grammy Award-nominated humorist, radio contributor, and author David Sedaris first garnered attention in 1992 after an NPR broadcast of his "SantaLand Diaries" essay. That momentum kept going in 1994 with the Barrel Fever collection and his contributions to NPR's This American Life program.

Over the course of five more self-deprecating essay sets – Naked and Holidays on Ice in 1997, Me Talk Pretty One Day in 2000 (which won him the Thurber Prize for American Humor), Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim in 2004 (whose recording was nominated for a Best Spoken Word Album Grammy Award), and When You Are Engulfed in Flames in 2008 – Sedaris became a regular fixture on the New York Times Best Sellers list.

All told, his work through 2008 sold more than seven million copies. Sedaris earned a second Grammy nod – this time for Best Comedy Album – for his Live at Carnegie Hall CD in 2004.

For 2010, Sedaris offered up Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, yet another collection of humorous tales. BBC Radio 4 also signed the humorist up for a four-part Meet David Sedaris series in 2010, with a six-part reprisal in 2011.
