About Mr. Bill Cosby

Cultural icon and funny man Bill Cosby holds a special place in the hearts of many who grew up watching his various television projects.

After his early days on the comedy circuit, Cosby forged his way into TV on I Spy in the 1960s. His efforts were honored with three consecutive Emmy wins for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He also released the first in a long string of comedy albums in Bill Cosby Is a Very Funny Fellow...Right!

The next decade found him leading The Bill Cosby Show as well as the first two seasons of The Electric Company. His next project, the animated Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, also combined education and entertainment for children.

Though he appeared in a number of films, television was truly Cosby's wheelhouse and he solidified that standing from 1984-1992 with The Cosby Show which revolved around the Huxtable family. The massively successful program even resulted in a Cosby-produced spin-off – A Different World.

Upon the show's demise, Cosby starred in a self-titled sitcom from 1996 to 2000 while also hosting two seasons of Kids Say the Darndest Things. Cosby has long kept his stand-up career on the side with regular concert tours.

As a product spokesman, Cosby has put his face on Jell-O, Coca-Cola, Kodak film, and more. He's also fairly well-known as a lover of jazz music and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Over the years of his illustrious career, Cosby has been presented with numerous awards including multiple “Man of the Year" titles from Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals, Kennedy Center Honors (1998), the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2002), the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award (2003), and the 12th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor (2009).
