Adam Lambert's album, For Your Entertainment, came out in November of 2009. The album was produced by a multitude of big names like Rob Cavallo, Ryan Tedder, and Dr. Like and spawned three singles: "For Your Entertainment, "Whataya Want from Me," and "If I Had You." The album debuted at number three and received generally positive reviews.

The artist promoted his rookie release with the "Glam Nation Tour." The flamboyant singer sold Adam Lambert tickets to more than 100 shows in four different continents. While the aforementioned success was a product of being the runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol, Lambert's musical journey started years earlier.

Like most American Idol finalists, Lambert had a music career long before he tried out for Fox's dynastic singing competition. As soon as he reached double-digits in years Lambert started acting and singing on stage. He was in productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Chess, Camelot, and Grease. Then as a teenager he performed light opera in Southern California and was in a production of the musical Hair that ran in Europe.

One of his biggest stage rolls, and one in which he earned high praise, was performing alongside Val Kilmer in The Ten Commandments: The Musical (the former Batman actor was ripped to shreds by critics). You can see for yourself how well Lambert did in the Biblical musical since the show was filmed and released on DVD. From 2005-2008, Lambert starred in both a national touring company and a Los Angeles production of Wicked. He played Fiyero.

Lambert was well on his way to becoming a stage star when a visit to Burning Man changed his life. While attending the week-long hippy-fest in the middle of Nevada's Black Rock Desert, Lambert realized that he could do whatever he wanted to do—and yes, funguses were involved.

Lambert is openly gay. Pundits believe he's the first openly gay man in the United States to launch a mainstream music career on a major label. Although he officially "came out" after his Idol run was over, a picture of him kissing a man surfaced during the competition. The development prompted followers of the show to discuss his sexuality and how it would impact voting.
