About Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert uses his amazing voice to sing a very likable brand of pop rock. His music has elements of glam rock and is very danceable.
Lambert possesses a world class set of pipes. His singing voice has been applauded by those associated with both popular music and musical theatre. Lambert’s vocals are not only off-the-charts powerful, but he has a nearly unlimited range.
His throat is very durable. For example, he didn’t need any vocal rest during his 2010 concert tour. That tour spanned more than 100 dates!
Lambert’s entertainment career began when he was nine and he started performing for the Metropolitan Educational Theatre network. He didn’t gain national exposure, however, until 2009 when he participated in the eighth season of American Idol.
Lambert didn’t win American Idol but he made a very strong showing as runner-up.
During his time on A.I., Lambert won over voters and judges with performances of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Black or White,” “Mad World,” and “Whole Lotta Love.”
Riding the success of his second place American Idol finish, Lambert released his debut album, For Your Entertainment, on Nov. 23, 2009. The album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200.
In 2010, Lambert launched the “Glam Nation Tour” to support For Your Entertainment. The outing took Lambert to four continents and had him playing 113 shows in just over seven months. It was the quickest an American Idol contestant had ever launched a world tour.
Lambert’s sophomore effort, Trespassing, hit streets May 15, 2012. The album went to number one in the United States, Canada, and Hungary. Many critics rank Trespassing higher than its predecessor.
In 2013, more Adam Lambert tickets were sold during his “We Are Glamily Tour.” Adam Lambert concerts are well known for their theatrics. Something Lambert picked up during his musical theatre days.
Before appearing on American Idol, Lambert appeared in regional and touring productions of musicals like Wicked, Brigadoon, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, and Chess. He was also in Ten Commandments: The Musical alongside Val Kilmer. Lambert was the only thing critics liked about that show.
Lambert’s third album, The Original High, dropped June 12, 2015. The opus was executive produced by Shellback and Max Martin—both helped Lambert craft his earlier hits.
Lambert is openly gay. He’s widely regarded “as the first openly gay mainstream pop artist to launch a career on a major label in the U.S.” It’s a little wordy but a tremendous distinction nonetheless.
Lambert didn’t necessarily set out to be a pioneer. He just never hid his sexuality and when he was asked about it he answered openly and honestly.
