Hailing from Franklin, Tenn., vocalist/keyboardist Hayley Williams, lead guitarist Josh Farro, bassist Jeremy Davis, drummer Zac Farro, and rhythm guitarist Taylor York came together as Paramore in 2004.
A 13-year-old Williams moved from Meridian, Miss. to Franklin in 2002 where she met brothers Josh and Zac. Before Paramore was born, Williams, along with Davis, were in a funk cover band called The Factory. The foursome eventually joined forces with their first co-written song being “Conspiracy.”
John Janick of Fueled by Ramen Records heard some early demos, attended a couple of live shows, and signed the band in 2005. Their debut album, All We Know Is Falling, was released later that year. During the ramp-up to recording, Davis left the band and it affected the other members deeply as memorialized in “All We Know.”
Of the departure, Williams says, "The couch on the cover of All We Know Is Falling with no one there and the shadow walking away; it's all about Jeremy leaving us and us feeling like there's an empty space." Davis rejoined Paramore after only five months away.
With constant touring and festival appearances, the group worked their way up to a sold-out headlining tour in the summer of 2006. The following year had British music mag NME name Paramore as one of their 10 bands to watch out for in the "New Noise 2007" segment.Their 2007 sophomore outing, Riot!, broke the band through by going platinum in the U.S. and gold in several other countries including Australia, Canada, and the UK.
