About Kathy Griffin

Kathy Griffin is an actress and stand-up comedian as well as a wildly outrageous media personality. More well-known for her sarcastic skewering of various celebrities than for her keen acting abilities, she is also the star of the hit Bravo show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. She is also doing quite a bit of voice-over work for animations and is a red carpet commentator, much in the vein of Joan Crawford, in her ability to infuse humor into her commentary during major Hollywood events.

A native of Chicago, IL, Griffin got her start with The Groundlings, an L.A. improv group. She quickly became ingratiated with the Hollywood acting scene, landing a role in the movie Harriet the Spy, before moving on to several televised comedy specials. Included in her line of acting credits are appearances on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Ellen, Civil Wars and her breakout role on the sitcom Suddenly Susan.

She has also had a slew of stand-up specials including Kathy Griffin: A Hot Cup of Talk as well as a successful voice over career, with credit including Dilbert and Spider-Man: The New Animated Series.

Griffin began to refer to herself as a “D” list celebrity after an appearance on the reality show, Celebrity Mole Hawaii, which she won after undertaking a variety of crazy stunts, including walking barefoot over hot coals. Her self-titled persona won her a spot on Bravo’s line-up with her own show, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List.

Some of her favorite topics on her Bravo show include plastic surgery, eating disorders and pinpointing stars among the Hollywood elite that may be homosexual. She also frequently discusses the antics of Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton and Clay Aiken, to name a few of her targets.

Griffin was nominated for a Grammy award in 2008 for her first audio comedy CD For Your Consideration. She riffed on her views of celebrities as well as her personal life throughout the CD, which was met with a respectable degree of commercial success.

In terms of her personal life, Griffin was married to Matthew Moline for five years before ending the relationship. Since then, she has been linked to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak; however, she is not reported to be currently dating anyone.
