Guns N' Roses has announced Canadian dates for their 'Chinese Democracy
World Tour." The tour, supporting their latest release, is scheduled
to begin Jan. 13 in
Winnipeg with a Guns N' Roses concert.
An American rock band supporting an album called "Chinese Democracy" in
Canada. That's more nationalities than you'll find a mall food court.
Fans of GNR have waited a long time for this trek. Hitherto, Guns
N' Roses had not launched a full scale tour to support their sixth
studio album, Chinese Democracy, which dropped in November of 2008.
The album, which was 17-years in the making, has failed to live up
to expectations (most of which were unrealistically too high). Still,
the opus went platinum in just a few months and eventually peaked at
number three on the Billboard 200.
If you consider that the band has yet to promote the album with a
tour and that Axl Rose has done absolutely no media, it's impressive
that the album has sold as well as it has.
These Canadians dates are preceded by four concerts in the Far
East. Come mid-December, the band will play shows in Taiwan and South
Korea as well as two in Japan.
Axl Rose is the only original member of Guns N' Roses left. That
obviously means (sadly) no Slash. The band's current lead guitarists
are DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot.
As of right now there are no shows scheduled for the United
States, but one can only assume that the announcement is just around
the corner.
