The New Kids on the Block Reunion Tour

The rumor is true! New Kids on the Block have reunited and will be releasing an album this summer and should be touring with limited dates. For all the fans that have “The Right Stuff,” and who have long wondered and hoped if they would every come back, they have. Kids no more, they have turned into well aged men that are promising an action packed show.

According to Donnie Wahlberg, former New Kids bad boy, they guys have been working in the studio since August of last year and all are excited about what they have put together. The guys have all said that it is a nice mix of the New Kids flavor of the hits of the past blended with the types of music the each favor. I would have to say that this reunion brings a whole new meaning to “Hangin’ Tough.”

In case you were wondering what they have been up to since last performing together over 14 years ago here is a brief synopsis. Both Joey and Jordan tried their hands at solo albums both of them financing those albums themselves. Danny spent his time working with under privileged kids in his hometown and all I can find on Jon is that he was working on his stage fright issues. Donnie of course has written and produced a number of songs for various people and established a solid acting career.

With each “Kid” having success in what they were doing post the New Kids insanity one has to wonder why they are coming back after all this time. The consensus of all five guys is that they decided to come back after all this time for the fans. Both Joey and Donnie have been quoted as saying that they wanted the fans to know that sticking by them did not make them crazy. That is why New Kids reunited, to give back to the millions of former screaming teenage girls who are now mothers of teen age girls.

There very first live performance will be on the Today Show on May 16th. So far the only other two dates that are listed on their website are for May 17th in New Jersey and May 18th in Boston of course! It looks like those New Kids tickets are going to run you anywhere from $30 all the way up. You should also know that the May 17th and 18th shows are big block parties, you will not only being seeing New Kids but a slew of other acts as well.

Some have asked whether or not NKOTB, remember when they went to NKOTB to try to establish that they were no longer kids… now there is no question and they are embracing New Kids on the Block, will be well received by the youth of today. I don’t think that is the point of the reunion. The guys are coming back for their fans, and I am sure that the teenage daughter of the mothers that will be screaming at the concert will secretly be crushing on the guys just like their mom’s used to.

I went to a number of their concerts back in the day. They always had an awesome show, who doesn’t remember screaming when Jordan or Donnie would take their shirt off! It is my hope that with their return that they bring back what made them the New Kids but at the same time bring something new that shows that they are grown men who can still rock!
