What is the Honda Civic Tour?

The Honda Civic Tour is an annual concert series that is sponsored by Honda. The tour covers much of the United States, and hits many cities along the way. The Honda Civic Tour is a tour that is often very well attended, and has been for the past several years. The tour itself began in 2001, and during each concert tour, the band that is headlining – or several bands that are – customize a Honda Civic, that is later given out to concert patrons in a raffle. These are often very sought after,since the cars are signed by the members of the headlining band and other bands on the tour and are artfully decorated.

The first Honda Civic Tour was in 2001. The concerts began in the late spring. During the first leg of the tour, the concerts were headlined by Blink 182. Also, Alkaline Trio, No Motive, Sum 41 and The Ataris were part of the show as well. During the second leg of the tour, Everclear was the headlining band, and was supported by American Hi-Fi, Head Automatica, and The Mayfield Four. This maiden voyage Honda tour ended up being a huge success.

During this 2002 tour, the bands played 47 shows all together. Incubus was the headlining act on this time around, and was supported by Hoobastank and Phantom Planet. Once again, this tour enjoyed spectacular attendance.

In 2003, the bands played 50 shows. This year, there were two co-headliners. These bands were New Found Glory, and Good Charlotte. The other bands that were included in the tour were Less Than Jake, MXPX, Hot Rod Circuit, the Disasters and Stretch Armstrong. All 50 shows were highly attended during this tour.

In 2004, which was the fourth edition of the concert tour series, Dashboard Confessional was the headliner. Val Emmich, Thrice and The Get Up Kids were some of the other popular bands that shared the stage this year. Many of the shows on this tour ended up sold out.

In 2005 Maroon 5 headlined. A few of the other artists in '05 were The Donnas, The Thrills, and Phantom Planet. This tour was also very well attended.

During the 2006 Honda Civic Tour, The Black Eyed Peas were the headliner. This tour kicked off in April of that year, and again took the bands across the country. During this tour, Flipsyde and The Pussycat Dolls were both supporting bands. This was one of the most well attended tours of the Honda Civic Tour history.

In 2007, the seventh Honda Civic Tour featured Fall Out Boy as the lead act. Other bands that appeared were +44, The Academy Is.. Cobra Starship, and Paul Wall. The '07 tour is also known for being the time some of the bands public ally stated what the real purpose of the tour was. Pete Wentz, who is the bassist of Fall Out Boy, stated that the tour was working with a band named Reverb, which is a non profit environmental organization. Wentz said that the purpose of the tour was to "promote awareness of the more fuel efficient Honda Civic, and also to promote global awareness of greenhouse gasses".

This tour began in late April of 2007. The actual tour was delayed this year, due to personal reasons for the headlining band. However, the shows that were played throughout the 2007 tour series were very well attended. Many people, according to the websites, stated that this was one of the best shows that they had ever been to.

This year's Honda Civic Tour is supposed to begin in mid-April and end in June in Anaheim, CA. Tickets for this tour went on sale in February of this year. The 2008 Tour will be headlined by Panic at the Disco. Other bands who will appear at the shows include The Hush Sound, Motion City Soundtrack, and Phantom Planet. The Honda Civic company hopes that this years tour will be as well attended as it has been in years past.

With the Honda Civic Tour accomplishing a number of things, including promoting their automobiles, trying to increase environmental awareness, selling out shows annually and providing concert-goers and music fans to see some great live music, the tour has been a huge success.
